Missionary Families of Christ (MFC)

Missionary Families of Christ (MFC) is an international Catholic lay ecclesial movement whose goal is to renew and strengthen Christian values. Missionary Families of Christ began as a movement in 1981 in Manila, Philippines, and is now a worldwide movement operating in many countries. It has grown into a holistic family life renewal ministry encompassing, besides the ministry to married couples, ministries to every member of the family. MFC as a community has grown to include kids, teenagers, young adults, couples, widows and widowers, walking hand in hand in our joys and pain.

A Missionary Families of Christ India is an affiliate of MFC-FFL, a private association approved by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Philippines. In India, it operates under the Conference of the Catholic Bishops of India Family Commission, and in each diocese, under the family commissions at respective dioceses.

The MFC is evangelistic and missionary community of lay faithful to lend a hand to the families. MFC is not an alternative to the parish/diocesan structure or to Church activities, but functions alongside the Church, and is strongly linked with the parish priests and local parishes.

Any validly married Catholic couple can become members of MFC. Although a Catholic movement/organization, MFC remains open to having non-Catholic Christians as members.

Those who want to join MFC will have to go through a weekly seminar series called the Christian Life Program (CLP), which usually spans 13 weeks or sessions. The CLP serves as the primary Evangelization approach, a core activity of MFC members.

At the end of the CLP, couple-participants are invited to dedicate themselves to the Lord as MFC members and to commit to participating actively in the life of the community and of the Church through regular prayer meetings, attendance in community assemblies and teachings, participation in parish life.

Missionary Families of Christ believe that for us the call to love one another is a call to be a missionary community.

Under the Commission for Family, Fr. Praveen Monteiro assists the MFC as Priest in Charge of Couples for Christ. Mr. Edson is the Coordinator of Couples for Christ in Delhi.
